About cerakote
When it comes to protecting your firearm, Cerakote offers unmatched durability, corrosion resistance, and custom aesthetic potential. Whether you’re safeguarding a personal defense weapon, duty firearm, or collector’s piece, Cerakote enhances both performance and appearance. Firearms represent a significant investment in time, money, and training—and protecting that investment is essential. Increasingly, Cerakote has become the go-to solution for modern firearm finishes due to its proven reliability in extreme conditions.
What is cerakote
Cerakote is a proprietary ceramic-based coating developed by NIC Industries, designed specifically for high-performance applications across firearms, automotive, and aerospace industries. The coating consists of a ceramic and polymer composite that, when properly applied, creates an ultra-thin protective layer—measuring just 1 mil (0.001″) thick. That’s half the thickness of most powder coatings, ensuring compatibility with tight-tolerance firearm components like slides, barrels, and bolts.
Once cured, Cerakote is highly resistant to abrasion, corrosion, chemicals, and moisture. It also withstands the rigors of holster wear, environmental exposure, and rough handling, making it ideal for hard-use firearms and gear. The finish is non-reactive, waterproof, and designed to last under real-world stress—whether you’re on the range, in the field, or in harm’s way.
benefits of cerakote
Corrosion Resistance: Cerakote provides an exceptional level of corrosion protection, making it ideal for firearms exposed to harsh environments, extreme temperatures, and moisture.
Scratch and Abrasion Resistance: Its tough, wear-resistant finish helps your firearm hold up to heavy use without losing its protective qualities or aesthetic appeal.
Heat Resistance: Cerakote can withstand high heat levels (up to 1800°F / 982°C for certain variants), making it perfect for firearms, exhaust parts, or anything exposed to extreme heat.
Chemical Resistance: Whether it’s oils, solvents, or cleaning chemicals, Cerakote offers exceptional protection against the harsh substances that could otherwise degrade your firearm’s finish.
Enhanced Grip and Comfort: Cerakote is available in a wide variety of textures, adding a more comfortable and secure grip to your firearm or tool.
Firearm intake & Service process
For optimal results, we ask that complete firearms be brought in for Cerakote services. This allows us to verify part tolerances both before and after coating. All firearms are fully disassembled and reassembled in-house, ensuring that the coating process does not interfere with mechanical function. Internal components—such as screws, pins, springs, and small parts—are kept free of coating to maintain performance and reliability.
Each part is thoroughly degreased, media-blasted, and prepped to ensure the coating adheres properly and delivers a durable, long-lasting finish. When a complete firearm is provided, it is typically test-fired after reassembly to confirm safe and proper function.
about customization
& Camo patterns
We offer a wide range of camouflage and custom Cerakote designs, including most military-inspired patterns. While 3D hunting camo (such as hydro-dipped styles) is better suited for water-transfer processes, we specialize in what we call “practical camo”—custom patterns tailored to your mission, environment, and preferred color palette.
We can also accommodate custom graphics, lettering, and themed builds. Simply email your design ideas or images to us for vectorization and sizing. Whether you want to provide exact placement instructions or prefer to give our team creative freedom with your vision, we’ll work with you to bring your firearm design to life—built around your chosen theme, colors, and style.
